This cop shooter is white.

A white man in Florence, SC had a shootout with the cops yesterday, injuring 6 and killing 1, and here’s what didn’t happen:

His photo isn’t in the news reports.

Blue Lives Matter isn’t flooding my TL.

He wasn’t killed.

They may update later, but as of 10:30 this morning, none of these articles had a photo of Fred Hopkins.

Police went to the Hopkins residence to serve a warrant on a 27-year-old at the home who was accused of molesting a foster child. Fred, a gun enthusiast who was disbarred a couple of decades ago, decided to have a standoff with the police and he’s still alive.

Fred Hopkins should be alive. This isn’t advocating for the police to kill people who get in their way of serving a warrant. This is just reminding everyone that the police are more than capable of apprehending suspects alive, as they did this 74-year-old white man in an affluent neighborhood.  Police regularly serve warrants in Black neighborhoods by dressing up in SWAT gear and ramming through front doors shooting whoever happens to be nearby, which is what happened to 7 year old Aiyana Stanley-Jones who was sleeping on a couch when the cops conducted a raid to arrest one person.

Not that I really did before, but I won’t be entertaining any conversations attempting to justify deadly measures employed by law enforcement. They apprehend white murderers all the time while killing unarmed Black people who breathe too hard.
