I don’t really remember What You Did Last Summer.

It must be stated: Tyriq Withers is so hot I would see the movie all over again just to watch him be a hot douchebag.

But! However hot you think he is in this movie, it pales in comparison to how hot and charming he is in real life and I can barely breathe in the same room as him. My friend kept pushing me to take a picture with him at the screening, but I was too afraid I might pass out.

Anyway, the movie is cute. I remembered absolutely nothing about the first one so I was wondering if they could pull off a “reboot for new audiences” thing, and I think it was successful. Predictable plot, nothing genre-breaking, a lot of fanservice to the original, but the cast is absolutely magnetic. The Final Girl was giving me Robin Tunney in the best way and the dialogue between friends was so sharp and realistic.

Plus! You get three absolute bangers on the soundtrack before the movie is even five minutes in. Kudos to the music supervisor for letting you know exactly who this group of friends are from the soundtrack — shades of Varsity Blues level curation going on.

If you like slasher films, go see it with your friends. It’s a fun little bloody summer moment. And! Make sure you sit through the credits!

Score: 3/5
