There’s a thread going around Twitter from a dad who’s giving his experience of what it’s like raising a child who is trans.
The whole thing is excellent, but I wanted to highlight this part because the faux-outrage from Conservatives and the insincere “concern” for the children always comes back to their ideas that trans kids change their minds and that doctors are doing surgery on little kids.
If that’s the conversation you hear, shut it down. Hormone blockers just delay puberty until the child is of an age where everyone — the child, the parents, mental health professionals, and the doctor — are certain that this puberty or that puberty is what will most fulfill the child’s gender identity. No one is doing surgery on your kid at 9 to change what they pee out of.
