The New York Times hates to back a losing team, so I was zero-percent surprised to see them digging into the wayback machine to make something out of nothing.
Mamdani was born in Africa. He’s now a citizen of the US. Ergo, he’s an African-American. He also identified as Asian, because his parents are Asian.
Is he Black? No.
Did he check the Af-Am box in the hopes it would give him a leg up during the application process? Probably.
But did he lie? No. Being smart enough to recognize the flaws in a made-up system of racial categorization isn’t lying — it’s using those stupid rules to your advantage.
Don’t let the incoming spin cycle distract you from the fact that Cuomo is a Republican sex pest and Adams is an idiot cop desperate to stay out of jail.
